FLOATFIT: THE NEW FITNESS TREND FROM ENGLAND!

by John Harris Fitness

Looking for a new, diverse, and effective workout on the water's surface? Good news, because Floatfit is now available in Austria. Floatfit is a fresh fitness trend where training takes place in the pool but on the water's surface. A special air-filled training mat called the aquabase Floatboard serves as the training tool. This mat is akin in material properties to a surfboard, allowing you to complete your workout on the mat without falling into the water.

A Popular New Fitness Program

Many fitness trainers and studios in England already swear by Floatfit training. But why has this new fitness program gained such popularity?

Floatfit combines effective workouts with an adrenaline rush. Participants stand on unstable ground, constantly maintaining balance and consistently engaging their core muscles. The fear of falling into the water adds excitement and intensity to the training. Whether you're bouncing, stretching, or doing yoga-like exercises, Floatfit combines efficient workouts, entertainment, and enjoyment with each move.

In general, Floatfit can be revealed as a blend of muscle and balance training, along with fun, intense workouts, and motivating group dynamics.

The Core Idea of Floatfit Workout

The core idea of Floatfit is to combine high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and low-impact training in a motivating and enjoyable manner.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

HIIT involves pushing your body to its limits in a short amount of time, such as 60 seconds. This training comprises high-intensity phases that reach your maximum heart rate, followed by periods of lower intensity to allow your heart rate to recover. Hence the name "interval training."

Low-Impact Training

Low-impact training is characterized by reduced strain on the body. It's suitable for those who want to train more gently. This training involves exercises that always keep one foot on the ground.

For this reason, activities like yoga and Pilates are categorized as low-impact training.

Who Is Floatfit Suitable For?

Floatfit training is especially suitable for fitness beginners and individuals who need to be mindful of their joints.

Float Fitness is particularly enjoyable for those who like trying new things and exploring how physical training works under challenging circumstances. The uneven surface of the water adds difficulty to the full-body workout and enhances your sense of balance.

The group dynamics and motivating words of the trainer by the poolside make the training session fly by.

Where Can You Find Floatfit?

Currently, Floatfit takes place 3 times a week at John Harris Fitness Margaretenplatz (1050 Wien). The class is included in the membership (just like all other classes) and can also be accessed with a day pass or monthly pass.

The only requirement is to sign up at the reception: Participation cards are distributed 30 minutes before the class starts, as the mats can accommodate only a certain number of people. You can find the exact class times in the schedule.
